“There’s always room for love. Even if it’s as small as a crack in a door.”
Hey guys it’s Blondie and on this Review Thursday I’m going to be continuing Kiera Cass Week with a review of The Siren by of course Kiera Cass.
Years ago, Kahlen was rescued from drowning by the Ocean. To repay her debt, she has served as a Siren ever since, using her voice to lure countless strangers to their deaths. Though a single word from Kahlen can kill, she can’t resist spending her days on land, watching ordinary people and longing for the day when she will be able to speak and laugh and live freely among them again.
Kahlen is resigned to finishing her sentence in solitude…until she meets Akinli. Handsome, caring, and kind, Akinli is everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. And though she can’t talk to him, they soon forge a connection neither of them can deny…and Kahlen doesn’t want to.
Falling in love with a human breaks all the Ocean’s rules, and if the Ocean discovers Kahlen’s feelings, she’ll be forced to leave Akinli for good. But for the first time in a lifetime of following the rules, Kahlen is determined to follow her heart.
Okay so here’s a little background on the production of this amazing book. It was actually Kiera Cass’ first book which she self published in 2009. But, it never did that well, and since The Selection kind of took off with Harper Collins Publishing, Harper Collins decided to publsih it. And now it has been re-written and a new cover (which it needed) and everyone who has read it LOVED it!
This book is narrated by Kahlen’s 1st point of view. And the whole time you just feel the exact same iner-turmoil that Kahlen is forced of having. Also, one amazing thing about this book for me is that it’s completley one-of-a-kind. There are millions of books about Sirens but Kiera has made a whole new story, and a whole new race of Sirens.
I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars for being a quick, fun, heartbreaking, incredibly romantic read.
