Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Yeah so I totally was not tagged to do this, BUT I’m going to do it anyway because I am Divergent. So if you have not seen this tag before, you basically answer some question about some opinions you have that everyone else seems to not have. So let’s get started shall we?

1. A popular book or series that you didn’t like.

Three words…The…Maze…Runner. I read the trilogy, because I was forced to, and for me if someone besides James Dashner had wrote, like maybe Veronica Roth or Rick Riordan, it wouldn’t have been so boring for me. It’s just don’t enjoy James Dashner’s writing, but the worlds he dreams up are absolutely amazing and mind blowing.

2. A popular book or series everyone else seems to hate but you.

The Theory Of Everything by Robyn Shneider. In this case hate is a very strong word. Big book critics loved it, yet most ordinary people who read it, thought it was a pathetic attempt at ripping off John Green, if you don’t believe me go read the reviews on Goodreads.

3. A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to OR an OTP that you don’t like.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!!! The Selection! Keira Cass killed me with those books, they’re on my top 10 list, but the America, Maxon, Aspen love triangle definitely got to me on infinite levels. In the first book, my brain was screaming ASPEN ASPEN ASPEN, but by the end I was MAXON MAXON MAXON. Then the second book came and I went back to Aspen, then the third one came and it was a really big mess, I was switching lanes every single chapter, but I guess you could say half of me was okay with America and Maxon being together, but the other half was screaming and crying. So, thank you very much Keira Cass.

4. A popular book genre that you hardly reach for.

I know I’m going to be stabbed with pitch forks and burned at the stake for this one, but Sci-Fi. I don’t know why, but it takes me so long to get into Science Fiction books. And they take me forever to read but they are normally the best books ever according to other book reviewers, and I always feel like I’m missing out. *goes and cries in a dark corner.

5. A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

I’m not going to go that much into detail with this one but, Thomas from the Maze Runner. PLEASE DON’T YELL AT ME

6. A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

John Green, oops? For some reason it is very hard for me to get into John Green’s writing, and I only enjoy little bits of his books, and I’m not saying that his books aren’t good or anything, I mean I read The Fault In Our Stars and really enjoyed most of it, his books just don’t fit my personality.

7. A type of book you are tired of seeing (ex: lost princess, corrupt ruler, love triangles)

Dystopian…that’s literally all I have to say about that.

8. A popular series you have no interest in reading

The Gone Series by Michael Grant…not that much to say about this either, just that I’ve seen it and it just doesn’t interest me at all.

9. The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but which book to movie adaptation do you enjoy better then the book.

The Maze Runner movies, yes I do realize they’re basically the same thing, but the movie moves it along faster, and destroys all of the parts I thought were incredibly boring, and emphasized all the brilliant parts that keep you on the edge of your seat.

So that’s all folks, be sure to tell me some of your unpopular opinions in the comments below! Love you guys, and until you read my next blog post keep your nose in a book! That’s an order! ~Blondie

  1. I’m also not a big fan of John Green’s books, despite how popular they are, and can never quite explain why. I think you summed it up perfectly: they just don’t fit my personality.

PS: I enjoyed the Maze Runner books, but I gotta agree that the movies are better. :p
